Get to Know Me

I'm Steena, and I live in San Antonio, Texas with my family.  I'm a devoted mom of two energetic children.

Having performed as a singer and dancer most of my life, has influenced me to write.  Through performance, I have always been a storyteller at heart.  While on tour as a vocalist with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, I kept a journal, and jotted thoughts and experiences.  I knew I wanted turn some of my adventures into stories.  I have been writing children's stories ever since. 

Growing up in a Mexican-American home, I'm also deeply connected to family and culture.  I continue to draw from these experiences as I write.

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University, and a TEA teacher certification to teach Theatre Arts (K-12). Most days, you can find me curled up in a cozy spot, reading a book with my kids.

I'm an active member of SCBWI, Storyteller Academy, Julie Hedlund's 12x12 Picture Book Challenge, and San Antonio Writers’ Guild.
